Ocean Galleries holds reception of "Sandy Flag" by child prodigy, Autumn De Forest

A fundraiser reception was held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Ocean Galleries in Avalon New Jersey to benefit the American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter’s Disaster Relief Efforts. The fundraiser featured the auctioning of a Hurricane Sandy tribute painting by 11 year old child prodigy, Autumn de Forest. The innovative child artist was moved by Hurricane Sandy’s path of destruction and wanted to help. She painted a commemorative painting, “Sandy Flag,” with the intention that 100% of the artwork’s proceeds would benefit those who suffered from the storm’s wrath and would be used to help rebuild the community.

The Disaster Relief Fund of the American Red Cross was established to help in any disaster situation, so while Sandy victims may benefit from the monies raised, the fund will also be there to help others in our area when disaster inevitably strikes again.
