Last week, American Red Cross Northeastern New York Regional CEO Gary Striar joined Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Julie Massry Knox of Tri City Rentals, and others at Lincoln Park Pool to kick off the Summer 2014 Learn-to-Swim sessions in Albany. The American Red Cross and the City of Albany partnered to continue offering the free Learn-to-Swim program at the Pool. Learn-to-Swim is a two-week, ten-lesson program designed to teach swimming and water safety skills to children in grades K-6. About 150 children are expected to participate in the program at Lincoln Park, which runs through July 18, thanks to the generous support of program sponsor Tri City Rentals.
In the video link below, Albany Recreation Commissioner Jonathan Jones talks about the importance of Learn-to-Swim to Albany children who might not otherwise get the chance to learn swimming and water safety, while Julie Massry Knox talks about why supporting the program and the Red Cross is important to her and Tri City Rentals.
The continuation of Learn-to-Swim is another great example of the services the Red Cross provides to the community, and how the support we get from partners like the City of Albany and Tri-City Rentals is so critical to making these services possible. We also could not offer Learn-to-Swim without the tremendous work of so many volunteers that coordinate and organize the details of the Program. Thank You!
