The American Red Cross is honored to announce the selection of Dianna Rios as an Ambassador for the U.S. Army’s Spirit of America, a free, patriotic live-action show that tells the history of our nation “through the eyes of the American Soldier.” Ms. Rios currently serves as the Services to the Armed Forces Program Manager for the Northeastern New York Region.
In her role as Ambassador, Ms. Rios will help to promote Spirit of America, coming to the Times Union Center on September 19 and 20. Spirit of America features performances by more than 300 active-duty soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), as well as the U.S. Army Band Pershing’s Own. “It is an honor to be able to represent the Red Cross while helping to increase awareness of the Army’s rich heritage and showcase its premier ceremonial units,” said Rios when asked to comment on her involvement. “Spirit of America is one of the Army’s largest community outreach programs. The show is presented in an enlightening and entertaining atmosphere that highlights the Army’s history and values, while looking ahead to tomorrow’s Army.”
The Red Cross is proud of its longstanding relationship with members of the U.S. military, its veterans, and their families. This relationship began over a century ago when Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross, first recruited nurses to support soldiers on the battlefield. Since then, the Red Cross has maintained an unwavering commitment to members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Today, leaders like Ms. Rios are helping to meet the needs of a changing military, and expanding Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces (SAF) to support not just enlisted men and women, but veterans and military families in communities across the country.
Since joining the Red Cross in 2012, Ms. Rios has worked tirelessly to increase the impact of the SAF program in the Northeastern New York Region. Her selection as an Ambassador for the U.S. Army’s Spirit of America is a testament to the outstanding connections she has made over the last two years with local military and veterans groups.
