American Red Cross Responds to Watkins Glen House Fire

American Red Cross Responds to Watkins Glen House Fire
It is important families and individuals remain vigilant in practicing home fire safety.

Disaster Action Team volunteers from the American Red Cross Finger Lakes Chapter provided assistance Saturday morning to one adult who was displaced from a home that was destroyed by a fire on Templar Road in Watkins Glen.

Red Cross assistance following home fires typically includes vouchers for temporary housing, food, clothing and seasonal garments as needed. The Red Cross volunteers remain available to the displaced adult to provide counseling, support and referrals to local agencies that will help with the individual’s long-term recovery.

TWO LIFESAVING STEPS With bitter temperatures and even lower wind chills this week, it is important families and individuals remain vigilant in practicing home fire safety. The Red Cross is asking every resident to take two simple steps that can save lives: check your existing smoke alarms and practice fire drills at home.
