The American Red Cross of Cortland County celebrated its recent move with an Open House Sept. 19 at the Cortland County office, 50 Clinton Ave., Cortland.
Many residents and city and county officials attended the Open House to tour the new office, meet staff and volunteers, peek inside the Red Cross' Disaster Response Vehicle, learn more about services provided by the Red Cross for county residents, and enjoy food and drinks on a perfect late summer day.
The American Red Cross of Cortland County operated out of the former Brewer Titchener Corp. on Port Watson Street from 1985 through this spring. The historic building at 50 Clinton Ave., formerly owned by the Knights of Columbus, was completely renovated in 1998.
New American Red Cross of Cortland County Manager Michele Whalen hosted a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new office.
“This really is the home for the American Red Cross in Cortland County,” Michele said.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Michele and her ability and talents and how quickly she has reached out to the community here in Cortland,” said Rosie Taravella, CEO of the American Red Cross Central New York Region who grew up in Cortland.
The Cortland County office is open during regular business hours. For more information about the Red Cross, call the office at (607) 753-1182 or email email@example.com.
