The American Red Cross of Cortland County and the American Red Cross of Tompkins County will host the Fourth Annual Cortland-Tompkins Real Heroes Breakfast at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Greek Peak Mountain Resort in Cortland.
The Cortland-Tompkins Real Heroes Breakfast celebrates the Red Cross mission of alleviating human suffering by recognizing people from Cortland and Tompkins counties who in the past year performed heroic acts to help others in need. Proceeds from the Real Heroes Breakfast will benefit the Red Cross in Cortland and Tompkins counties.
“We look forward to honoring the residents in our communities who have put someone else’s needs ahead of their own,” said Michele Whalen, manager of the American Red Cross of Cortland County. “We know there are many heartwarming stories of heroism throughout our two counties, and we want you to help us find them.”
The Real Heroes Breakfast honors residents in 12 award categories: Adult Good Samaritan, Animal Rescue, Blood Donor, Education, Fire Rescue, Good Neighbor, Law Enforcement, Medical, Medical Safety, Military, Youth Good Samaritan and 9-1-1 Dispatch.
“Whether it’s a first responder who acted bravely in a life-threatening situation, or your next-door neighbor who donates blood on a regular basis, you may know real heroes in our community and we’d like you to help us honor them,” said Carlos McCluskey, manager of the American Red Cross of Tompkins County.
