Tompkins County Red Cross Offers First Aid Training For Coaches

The program helps coaches recognize and respond appropriately to first aid emergencies and meets New York State coaching requirements.

The Tompkins County Branch of the American Red Cross is hosting a First Aid- Responding to Emergencies class for high school coaches as they prepare for the fall season. The class will run from 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, July 30 and 31, at the branch, 2 Ascot Place, Ithaca.

The program helps coaches recognize and respond appropriately to first aid emergencies and meets New York State coaching requirements. The course teaches skills that enable participants to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill athlete or bystander until more advanced medical personnel arrive.
