The American Red Cross of Central New York will host its 14th annual Silent Auction to benefit its Madison-Oneida office starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the Vernon Downs Hotel Event Center, 4229 Stuhlman Road, Vernon.
This year, the Disco Party-themed event falls on opening day at Vernon Downs Raceway. The auction will feature disco music from the 1970s and visitors are invited to get into the spirit by wearing leisure suits, bell bottoms and platform shoes. After the auction, Vernon Downs will celebrate the start of its 61th season with a spectacular fireworks show.
The Silent Auction will include a buffet dinner with gluten-free options starting at 6:30 p.m., a bingo prize board, and Carl’s famous chocolate-covered cherries for dessert. Auction items have been donated by local businesses, individuals, authors and artisans, and the Red Cross is accepting more items. Among the items that will be included in the auction are: handmade furniture, jewelry, needlework, artwork, wine, assorted theme baskets and sports memorabilia.
Tickets for the Silent Auction are $30 for adults and $20 for children 6 to 10 (5 and under are free). Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased in advance at the Madison-Oneida office at 134 Vanderbilt Ave., Oneida, by calling 315-363-2900, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Oneida Saving Bank is again the main sponsor of the Silent Auction. Oneida Saving Bank has graciously sponsored the event since its inception in 2003. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross of Madison-Oneida for Red Cross services in Madison County.
