American Red Cross Seeks Community Hero Nominations

Heroes will be honored during an awards presentation on May 15, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at The Bertram Inn in Aurora, Ohio. Tickets and sponsorships are still available.

The American Red Cross of Northeast Ohio will recognize and pay tribute to ordinary members of the community in Portage, Geauga and Lake Counties who have shown extraordinary courage, compassion, character or humanity by saving or improving the lives of others. These values mirror those that motivate and inspire the work of the American Red Cross.

Heroes will be honored during an awards presentation on May 15, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at The Bertram Inn in Aurora, Ohio. Tickets and sponsorships are still available.

To submit a nomination, individuals can visit the Red Cross web site at www.redcross.org/summit-portage and click “Local Programs” and then “Red Cross Heroes Awards” on the left rail of the page. Nominations can be accepted through the use of a mail-in/fax-in nomination form that can be downloaded from the website.

Hero nominations will be accepted through March 1, 2014. The heroic act must have occurred in 2013 but may have taken place outside of Portage, Lake or Geauga Counties. Nominees must reside or be employed in Portage, Lake or Geauga Counties. The deadline for nominations is March 1, 2014. All nominations will be reviewed by a judge’s panel and heroes will be selected in March.
