New SAF Programming in Ohio

military family
...and making sure our military members are receiving the services they need.

New and exciting changes are coming to the Service to Armed Forces program here at the American Red Cross! The SAF program is in the final stages of hiring three AmeriCorps members to their team. These AmeriCorps members will work on Casework, Outreach, and Volunteer Coordination within all 25 counties of the Central/Southeast Ohio Region. Our SAF Caseworker will be in charge of following up with clients, providing referrals and making sure our military members are receiving the services they need. Our Outreach AmeriCorps member will be participating in all aspects of deployment, from briefings to welcome home ceremonies. They will also be promoting awareness about Red Cross services available to members of the military.

The Volunteer Coordinator position will have two significant roles: 1) Strategize and carry out recruitment of armed forces veterans for placement in Red Cross volunteer positions and 2) Coordinate Red Cross volunteer opportunities with the VA, Operation: Military Kids, and other similar type of organizations that provide services for our communities’ service members, military retirees, veterans, and their families. Notable upcoming events that the SAF program will participating with are the Homeless Veterans Stand Downs in Chillicothe on September 27th and in Columbus on October 22nd.
