Volunteers power our humanitarian mission.
From serving meals to disaster victims to helping with blood drives, volunteers contribute throughout our community. Our volunteers teach CPR and help soldiers arrange travel home for the birth of a child. They drive seniors and others to critical medical appointments. They help us prepare for disaster and recover from the aftermath. More than 2,000 volunteers support the Central-Southeast Ohio Region. They contribute a varying number of hours – from one four-hour shift per month to nearly full-time. They make up 94% of the Red Cross workforce!
Some opportunties include:
Disaster Services: Volunteers needed to respond to single-family fires, floods, and other disasters in the area and to provide casework for clients.
Disaster Preparedness Presenter: Educate individuals and groups on how to be prepared before a disaster occurs.
Health & Safety Instructor: Teach community classes such as CPR, First Aid and water safety to children and adults.
First Aid Services Team: Volunteers staff special events throughout Columbus and provide immediate first aid to guests.
Community Transportation Driver: Transport clients in Red Cross vehicles to their vital medical appointments.
Armed Forces Caseworker: Ensure delivery of emergency communications for members of the military and their families.
Public Affairs: During disasters, tell the Red Cross story to your community.
Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks and duties in our many departments and offices.
There are many more opportunities to volunteer with your Red Cross. The first step to volunteering is completing an application online and then attending a Volunteer Information Session.
