Red Cross opens evacuation center for apartment fire

Red Cross disaster responders will be assisting any residents who need help with shelter, clothing, food and other immediate needs.

The American Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot Counties is responding to an apartment complex fire in Findlay and has opened an evacuation center for the residents. The Red Cross evacuation center is located at the Area Agency on Aging on Melrose Avenue in Findlay. Red Cross volunteers are on hand to provide a warm, safe place for residents of Hillcrest Apartments to wait on word from the Findlay Fire Department on when they can return to their homes. Food and beverages are available.

It is unknown at this time how many families are affected by the fire or how many will be allowed to return to their homes. Red Cross disaster responders will be assisting any residents who need help with shelter, clothing, food and other immediate needs.

All Red Cross disaster relief is provided free of charge, thanks to the generosity of the American people. If you’d like to make a donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, visit www.redcross.org/hancock or call (419) 422-9322.
