The American Red Cross of Wyandot County is planning Boots and Badges: A Rockin’ Party for the Red Cross to celebrate local first responders. This second annual event will take place on Saturday, March 1 at the Sycamore Community Center, located at the corner of State Routes 103 & 67 in Sycamore. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the party takes place from 6:00 – 11:00 p.m.
The Red Cross will present the First Responder of the Year award during the event. This year, the award will be presented to Scott Blair, an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician with the Carey EMS. Blair was nominated for the award by his daughter, McKenzie, who cited her father’s dedication and commitment to providing emergency medical services to the community. The First Responder of the Year Award is presented annually by the Red Cross to a local firefighter, law enforcement officer or emergency medical responder for significant contribution to local first response delivery.
Guests of Boots and Badges will enjoy a great evening of musical entertainment provided by the “T” And Rich Dueling Piano Show - a high-energy dueling piano team based in Cleveland. Non-stop audience participation, interaction, and high-energy party songs with a comic twist are the cornerstones of the “T” and Rich show.
Attendees will also enjoy a buffet of great food featuring smoked pork provided by Schilling Propane. There will be a silent auction, a balloon burst and other fun games during the party as well.
Red Cross Director Cheryl Wolfe says this year’s party will be bigger and better than last year. “We had a fantastic first year with this event and everyone who was there said they would be back and they would bring friends with them. So, when the Sycamore Fire Department invited us to hold the event at the Sycamore Community Center, we were excited about the opportunity to grow Boots & Badges and invite more people to join the party!”
Tickets for Boots and Badges: A Rockin’ Party for the Red Cross are $20 and available at the American Red Cross of Wyandot County office, Commercial Savings Bank in Upper Sandusky and Carey, and First Citizen’s Bank in Upper Sandusky.
