On April 27th 2013, the American Red Cross participated in a full scale disaster exercise in Hocking County, Ohio. The primary role of the Red Cross in this exercise was to establish and staff shelters for displaced residents after the 'transportation incident'.
During the exercise, gasses from the accident were released into the air and volunteers had to determine suitability of shelters that were being opened. The volunteers did a great job handling the crisis. A review of the exercise was recently distributed and the Red Cross received high marks for their participation and quick response!
