Local Red Cross Encourages Families to Send Words of Gratitude

Deb Swiney, Bill Schneider
It takes just a moment to sign a card to share your appreciation for the sacrifices members of the military community make.

Isn’t it nice to actually receive a greeting card in the mail? Well, imagine if you are serving our country and away from your family this holiday season. These heroes will be delighted to receive a card from you expressing your appreciation, support, and season’s greetings. The American Red Cross is in the business of supporting our armed forces; therefore, your local chapter is inviting individuals, schools, churches, and organizations to send holiday greetings to America’s heroes, veterans and their families.

“It takes just a moment to sign a card to share your appreciation for the sacrifices members of the military community make,” says Jeannette Meiser, Muskingum Lakes Chapter Manager. “You simply say thanks and we’ll do the rest.”

The Red Cross will be at the New Towne Mall, New Philadelphia, on Sunday, December 8, from 6-9PM, during the “Magical Night of Giving,” where holiday cards can be made or delivered.

The Red Cross relies on the support of the American people to carry out its mission of service to the two million members of the U.S. Armed Forces, 24 million veterans, and their families. Give the gift that says, “Thank you for your sacrifices. Thank you for being there for me.”

Since 2006, the Red Cross has distributed more than 4.7 million cards to members of the Armed Forces, and we hope members of our community will help us continue this tradition.”

All holiday greetings can also be addressed and sent to either of the following locations, no later than Friday, December 6
