Sandusky Township Fire Department Wins Food Challenge

We are excited to bring this awesome trophy back to the fire house, said Charlie Baxter, It will look great on the shelf we built for it.

The Sandusky Township Fire Department took the 2014 Fire House Food Challenge title at the American Red Cross of Sandusky County “Rock & Roll with the Red Cross” fundraising event on May 10. Over 100 guests enjoyed the organization’s first fundraising event of its kind at The American Legion in Fremont.

Firefighters from Ballville Township, Gibsonburg, Helena, Lindsey, and Sandusky Township participated in a food cooking challenge. Celebrity judges from Wood County along with a “People’s Choice” award and total tip amounts for each team determined the winner. The judges scored each entry based upon overall flavor. The winning team of Sandusky Township Fire Department took home the prize trophy.

“We are excited to bring this awesome trophy back to the fire house,” said Charlie Baxter, president of Sandusky County Volunteer Fireman’s Association, and representative of the Sandusky Township Fire Department. “It will look great on the shelf we built for it.”
