Red Cross Youth Trick or Treat for Disaster

2014-11-10 - Cascades Region - Red Cross Youth Trick or Treat for Disaster
This was our best year to date, in terms of high school youth participation and total funds collected.

The American Red Cross Youth Volunteers throughout Clark County, Wash. enjoyed Halloween night collecting contributions for Red Cross Disaster Services in lieu of candy. Approximately 160 high school youth volunteers participated, assisted by Adult Advisors, Red Cross Board Members, Red Cross Disaster Services Volunteers and School Advisors

This year, the Red Cross Youth Clubs collected nearly $ 5,200 from generous residents throughout Clark County. Funds collected aid in providing Red Cross disaster responses in our local communities, for victims of fire, flood, and other local emergencies, helping to provide for temporary housing, food, clothing, counseling and other disaster recovery assistance.

“This was our best year to date, in terms of high school youth participation and total funds collected,” said Red Cross Youth Advisor Trish Osilla.

Ten Cascades Region High School participated, including: Fort Vancouver High School, Prairie High School, Hudson’s Bay High School, Union High School, Vancouver Schools or Arts & Academics, Columbia River High School, Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School, Camas High School, Mountain View High School and Skyview High School.

The American Red Cross and our local Southwest Washington Chapter provide vital services, such as disaster response, service to Armed Forces, disaster preparedness training, First Aid, CPR and AED courses and the collection of vitally needed blood and blood products. The Red Cross fulfills its mission through the generous charitable support of individuals, foundations and organizations.
