The American Red Cross NEPA Region continues to provide support to the Pennsylvania State Police and additional law enforcement agencies during an ongoing investigation in the Pocono area. On the evening of September 12, 2014, two state police troopers were shot, one fatally and the second, critically wounded. The incident occurred directly outside of the State Police barracks in Blooming Grove Township, PA.
The Red Cross NEPA Region first responded on September 13th, 2014 and will continue to provide meals, beverages, and snacks until our services are no longer required. The Red Cross is now providing over 1,500 meals/day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), in addition to snacks and beverages, from multiple locations within the Pocono area. The Red Cross also provided snacks and refreshments during the memorial and funeral services for State Police Corporal Bryon Dickson.
The Red Cross has been supporting this round-the-clock effort through disaster relief funding in addition to the overwhelming generosity of restaurants and food service providers. While we are not accepting individual donations of food and supplies, please consider making a monetary donation to the Red Cross. By earmarking your donation towards disaster relief, dollars will go directly towards this endeavor and future disasters where Red Cross assistance is needed. To make a donation, visit www.redcross.org, mail a check to your local chapter, or drop it off in person.
