As an organization committed to preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies, the American Red Cross understands the importance of recruiting remarkable youth and young adults to create and mobilize lifelong supporters of the mission. Through early introduction to the organization and through cultivation of outstanding young citizens, the Red Cross hopes to continue its powerful impact across the world for many years to come.
Delmont Native Anna Bevington Drenning is one such individual who understands the powerful impact that youth can have in their local communities. For her outstanding work with area schools, universities and youth councils, Drenning joins ten other members of the Red Cross National Young Professionals Council (NYPC).
“Anna consistently strives to place area youth into fulfilling and rewarding volunteer roles,” said Rex Rossey, Volunteer Manager of the local Red Cross. “Her tireless efforts have allowed our organization to build a presence in school systems, universities and student clubs throughout Western Pennsylvania.”
The National Young Professionals Council was established in 2008 to develop and implement strategies for the Red Cross. The Council seeks to recruit and engage extraordinary young professionals between the ages of 21 and 35 to further the Red Cross mission through their work experience, diverse backgrounds and broad skill sets.
Bevington Drenning continues to inspire youth through her various roles with the Red Cross. Currently, she serves as a Regional Youth Volunteer Specialist with the local Red Cross in Western Pennsylvania. In addition, she served as a Junior Advisor and member with the National Youth Council for three years. To date, she has implemented a youth and young adult strategy for the region, standardized the local internship program and restructured the nationwide scholarship program.
In her new role with the NYPC, Bevington Drenning will be providing advice and insights on organization-wide policies concerning young adults and young professionals, and supporting Club Red and Young Professional Red Cross Groups with a focus on service delivery.
Through this work, Bevington Drenning further inspires, engages and mobilizes youth to continue the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross.
