The Red Cross chapters of the Northeast Pennsylvania region have done a great deal to help out our service members and veterans this past holiday season. Thousands of holiday cards have been delivered to make our service members and veterans feel appreciated and thanked for all they do for us. Specifically, the Schuylkill County Chapter has done a fantastic job for the Holiday Mail for Heroes program.
Many cards signings happened throughout Schuylkill County. On October 12th, there were 80 cards signed at the Pine Grove Fire Company Safety and Community Day from firemen, their families, and members of the community.
The Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation held multiple card signings at their Cub Scouts Day Events on October 19th and 26th. All of the scouts signed and decorated over 300 cards for our service members and military heroes.
Volunteers also signed over 100 cards at Hegins-Hubley Elementary School in Valley View, PA on October 24th.
An article highlighting the Holiday Mail for Heroes was published on the Republican Herald website, showing how citizens of Schuylkill County could help out our service members during the holiday season. Janet Curtis, Executive Director of Berks and Schuylkill County Chapters, said “Spread the word to your friends, family and neighbors, and let's give something that means something to our military men and women, veterans and their families around the world in gratitude for their service.”
Thank you to the Schuylkill County Chapter, the Pine Grove Fire Company, the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation Cub Scouts, Hegins-Hubley Elementary, the Republican Herald, everyone in Schuylkill County who helped with the Holiday Mail for Heroes program and of course, our service members and veterans!
