Red Cross Helps Eight People After Cumberland Fire

The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing and food needs.

CUMBERLAND, R.I., September 26, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping eight people – four adults and four children in two families – after a fire Thursday in Cumberland on Washington Street. The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing and food needs to both families. Red Cross volunteers Michael Cote and Freddy Silva responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
