Celebrate Mardi Gras and Help the Red Cross

We are thankful for the support of the Smith Group and appreciate everything they are doing to help

AIKEN, S.C., Monday, Feb. 10 – Gather your krewe and come enjoy a night of food, fun and revelry at the Smith Group’s 12th Annual Mardi Gras Party to benefit the Red Cross Aiken Area Chapter. The event will be held Friday, March 7 from 6-10:30 p.m. at Newberry Hall located 117 Newberry Street SW in Aiken.

“It’s been a busy start to the year with our response to local disasters,” said Aiken Area Chapter Executive Director Derek Dugan. “We are thankful for the support of the Smith Group and appreciate everything they are doing to help the Red Cross.”

Tickets are $50 per person or $100 for a couple and feature a New Orleans atmosphere complete with an all-you-can-eat Cajun appetizers, buffet, desserts, beer, wine and Hurricanes. Live Music by “Palmetto Groove Band.” Reserved tables for $850 or $600 are available. All proceeds benefit the Red Cross in Aiken.

The Smith Group, an Aiken based financial planning group, has been supporting Aiken charities for twelve years with this event.  “Pearline and I are so thankful to be part of this wonderful community. The good people of Aiken have supported our business and have helped us become successful beyond our wildest dreams,” said Carl Smith, President of the Smith Group.  “We decided years ago that we wanted to give back to the community that has supported us so well.  We have made it a point to focus on charities that were local and used the donations locally. The Red Cross of Aiken was our choice for this year and we are excited to work with them on this fun event.”

Because of trained disaster volunteers and financial assistance from the community, Red Cross has been able to help more than 600 people affected by disasters in the Palmetto SC region since Jan 1.  On average, the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross chapters spanning 35-counties of South Carolina.
