The Red Cross is now enrolling students for their new Nurse Assistant Training Program which begins Monday, September, 9th. The 4-week, Monday-Friday sessions will be held at the Top of Virginia Chapter at 561 Fortress Drive in Winchester.
Exceeding national and state guidelines, the 130-hour program prepares students for certification by the Virginia Board of Nursing and incorporates not only nursing skills but life and career skills as well.
The program features classroom, lab and hands-on clinical experience led by highly qualified Red Cross Registered Nurse instructors. Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury will host students for their clinical rotations.
For a limited time, qualified prospective students may receive a $1,000 financial aid stipend to assist with tuition. The stipends are provided by the Walmart Foundation to assist people currently unemployed, under employed, receiving public assistance or want to advance in the healthcare field.
The Virginia Employment Commission and US Bureau of Labor rank nursing assistants as the number-one fastest growing occupation nationwide. Both agencies project a 78% employment growth rate over the next seven years. The Nurse Assistant Training Program provides job opportunities and helps develop a skilled workforce to meet Winchester’s healthcare needs of today and the future demands of a growing aging population.
