The American Red Cross of Wyoming has opened a flood shelter at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds at 315 Holdrege in Basin, Wyo. This shelter is in addition to the shelter that was opened Friday in Worland at the Community Center. Both shelters have been opened due to ongoing flooding on the Big Horn River.
The Red Cross shelter will provide food, lodging and information and has clean up kits available to residents affected by the flood waters.
The Red Cross is also sheltering members of the Wyoming National Guard as well as other incident personnel.
American Red Cross of Wyoming volunteers have been deployed to the area since Friday with more arriving this week. A Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle arrived Sunday afternoon carrying additional supplies and will be used in Washakie and Big Horn Counties to distribute flood relief and recovery items.
"We are appreciative of all of our Red Cross volunteers in Wyoming and we are grateful to our donors who support this and other disaster relief in Wyoming," said Spencer Pollock, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Wyoming.
