Red Cross opens shelters for Owen Fire evacuees

Fire season is in full force in Wyoming

The American Red Cross opened two shelters on June 7 for residents evacuated from the Owen Fire. One shelter is at the Harmony School, 20 Lewis Road, Laramie. The second is at Centennial School, 2771 Highway 130, Centennial. No residents stayed the night at the shelters last night.

Evacuations have been ordered for Lake Owen Campground & Day-Use Area, as well as the north end of Fox Creek Road.

"Fire season is in full force in Wyoming, our local volunteers are on the ground and set up to help the residents effected,” said Traci Aguilar, Disaster Program Specialist for the Red Cross of Wyoming. “The shelters will be available until the residents are allowed back into their properties."
