Greater Albemarle Heroes Victory Celebration

Heroes Victory Celebration

The Greater Albemarle Area Chapter Red Cross will host a victory celebration on April 11th to honor the Coast Guard members who rescued 14 people from the HMS Bounty after they had to abandon ship during Hurricane Sandy.

After the harrowing rescue of the HMS Bounty crew members, the Red Cross was called in to provide immediate assistance with shelter, food, clothing, mental health counseling and additional services.

The Red Cross works closely with emergency officials and first responders during times of disaster to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities. We are proud to honor these brave members of our US Coast Guard who risked their own safety to rescue others who needed help.

All Heroes fundraisers who raise $1,000 or more for the Red Cross will be invited to a private reception with the Coast Guard members from 6-7pm. After the private reception, the general public is invited to view the awards ceremony at 7pm. Doors will open at 6:45pm.
