High School Heroes is a philanthropic leadership & cash awards program. Awards are made possible by The Grainger Foundation. The top three fundraisers (individuals) will earn awards of $5,000, $2,000 & $1,000, respectively. Four other outstanding fundraisers will earn $500. A letter of reference will be provided by the Regional Executive Director of the Triangle Red Cross to participants who complete the program that may be utilized for college/graduate school applications or employment applications.

How your fundraising helps - $1,000 provides
Alexis Hicks from Broughton High School in Raleigh was awarded the top 2012 scholarship. Her volunteer experiences include fundraising for Camp Happy Days and volunteering with Race for the Cure, Meals on Wheels, Interact and the Food Bank of NC. Her Red Cross fundraising event, "Fling in the Spring,” included four live bands, auctions, a raffle, barbeque chicken dinner plates and “Dancing for Dollars.” She was able to secure an on-air media interviews and a print ad.
Lindsey completed our Heroes program in 2009 during her senior year of high school. After winning the scholarship and title, she went on to receive a full academic scholarship to Campbell University, using this experience as a corner stone in her community and philanthropic activities.
Taylor completed our Heroes program in 2010 during her junior year of high school. She has also continued to volunteer after the program. She used these activities as the backbone of her college applications and received a full academic scholarship to East Carolina University.
