Join the American Red Cross for a premier training opportunity that will bring all the players to the table. From June 17 through June 22, 2013, the Kansas Disaster Training Institute sponsored by American Red Cross will offer training opportunities, keynote speakers and breakout groups for all organizations affected by disaster.

Taking place on the campus of Pratt Community College, participants will hear from nationally respected subject-matter experts on the challenges and importance of working together to help communities rebuild after disasters. Click here to see a full schedule and description of classes.

  • Monday, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. - Red Cross Vice President of Disaster Operations Trevor Riggen discusses the Red Cross response to Hurricane Sandy and the re-engineering of the American Red Cross.
  • Tuesday, 7 to 9:30 p.m. - A Look Back at Joplin and Greensburg – Ray Stegman, Kiowa County Emergency Manager
  • Wednesday, 7 – 10 p.m. - The Future of Disaster Relief Coordination – Jamieson M. Day, PH.D

  • All keynote presentations are open to the public and will take place at the Pratt Community College Auditorium.

    Cost and Lodging

    To increase preparedness capacity and to facilitate relationship building within Kansas, the American Red Cross is waiving costs for the Disaster Training Institute. Free registration includes breakfast, lunch and dinner for the six-day event.

    Lodging at the college is included in the registration that includes bedding and towels. However, guests should bring their own pillow.
