Salute to Service will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The celebration is the largest fundraising event of the year for the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region. Funds raised are transformed into services delivered every day in our community. Hundreds of military, government, corporate and community leaders join together for an inspirational evening that supports the programs of the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region.
This stellar event features special recognition to men and women who have contributed to their community and follow the mission of the American Red Cross. We will feature silent and live auctions, a VIP reception and other ways to celebrate the men and women of the military and their families.
4Troops, a pop vocal music ensemble consisting of four retired United States armed forces personnel will perform. The group's first CD, also titled “4Troops”, stayed on the Billboard 200 charts for 6 weeks. They were a hit at the 2012 Red Cross Salute to Service Gala.
At the event this year, The American Red Cross, in partnership with creative agency BBDO New York and international analog photography community Lomography will display the “Stories of the American Red Cross” exhibit recently seen at Union Station in Washington, DC.
The exhibit tells the stories of people across the country, showing the entire scope of Red Cross work: blood collection and supply; support to America’s military families; help to vulnerable communities around the world; disaster relief; and health and safety training and education. Individuals were sent a simple kit with a camera, and some tips for how best to depict their story.
