Get prepared at the Red Cross Prepare Fair on March 29 at the Red Cross headquarters. Get the facts about local hazards in the Pacific Northwest—including the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Help prepare your family, organization, and community for disasters large and small. Step inside a next generation emergency response vehicle and bloodmobile. Learn lifesaving CPR and the science of blood banking and transfusion. Give back through on-site volunteer opportunities supporting our veterans and patients in need – ALL FOR FREE.
Community members are invited to drop-by Red Cross headquarters (3131 N. Vancouver in Portland) between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tours of the bloodmobile and next generation emergency response vehicle will be offered throughout the day. Some sessions require a RSVP.
9:00 - 10:30 a.m. - “Cascadia: Preparing Your Home and Family for the Inevitable.” This interactive presentation offers practical tools and tips to prepare for disasters large and small. RSVP required.
10:00 a.m. - 3 p.m. - “Psychological First Aid.” Learn how to help people cope in the face of stressful events, including disasters. RSVP required.
10:00 a.m. - 3 p.m. - “Born on the Battlefield.” Learn about the history of the American Red Cross. RSVP required.
10:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. - Hands On Citizen CPR. Learn how to provide lifesaving care until professional responders arrive.
11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. - “Lifesaving Donations.” Learn about the science and safety behind blood banking and transfusion.
12:30 p.m. -1:15 p.m. - Volunteer Panel. Hear Red Cross volunteers share their firsthand experiences about disaster response, blood donations, and more.
1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. - Red Cross Tables. Shop for Red Cross items and talk to representatives from our five lines of service: Disaster Cycle Services, Biomedical Services, Preparedness Health and Safety, Service to Armed Forces and International Services.
1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. - On-site Volunteering. Assemble comfort kits full of hygiene items for veterans and make blood kits for patients in need.
1:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - Blood Drive. Donate blood at the Red Cross Portland Blood Center. Schedule an appointment in advance.
1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Volunteer Orientation. Learn how to become a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
