Inspired by the Spanish sensation, La Tomatina, The Tomato Run is a is a five-kilometer fun run incorporating pounds of inedible, surplus tomatoes that would otherwise go to waste.
The Tomato Run is adventure and fun for everyone where you can test your agility, or your aim!
Run, jump, dodge, and jog on a fun and incredibly messy course created with three “Tomato Zones” where the “Tomato Army” attempt to douse passing runners in squashed tomato remnants.
The end is just the beginning!
Our finish line is the start line to enter the Tomato Arena with an all-out sauceome battle to celebrate. And when you’ve had your fill, move on over to hose off stations, food, drinks, music, merchandise and a kids zone equipped with tomato based activities. To learn more, visit The Tomato Run online
What happens to all the tomatoes after the event? All tomato remnants will be earmarked for composting by members of The U.S. Composting Council (USCC). The USCC is a national, non-profit trade and professional organization promoting the recycling of organic materials through composting. Veteran Compost is a Maryland based, veteran-owned business focused on turning food scraps into high quality organic compost. Composting bins will be positioned in the Tomato Zones and within the Tomato Battle arena in Maryland for easy tomato clean-up after the event.
