As part of National Preparedness Month, the Red Cross is celebrating “Save A Life September” in honor of 100 years of saving lives in Colorado. During the month-long campaign, we encourage individuals, organizations and businesses to take simple steps that could save a life.
We encourage you to get prepared, take life-saving training and spread the word. Here are resources and ideas to help you participate:
Businesses: Download this list of ways your company can participate in “Save A Life September” National Preparedness Month.
Parents: Children suffer breathing emergencies (especially choking!) cardiac arrest and all sorts of accidents. Did you know you can take infant and child CPR? Check out our online reference guide and sign up for training today!
Preparing for emergencies can bring peace of mind, and readiness activities are a great, interactive way to spend time with your family. Use the Be Red Cross Ready toolkit to make your family plan, build an emergency kit and talk about what you would do in case of a disaster. You can also download Disney’s Mickey And Friends Disaster Preparedness Activity Books.
Educators: If you teach elementary-age children, you can help them improve their household disaster preparedness by requesting The Pillowcase Project interactive presentation for your classroom. Kids have fun decorating a personal emergency pillowcase “kit” while learning the essentials of personal and family preparedness, local hazards, and basic coping skills. Contact Julia Richards at email@example.com to find out more.
Community Groups: Communities that prepare together are better able to withstand and thrive after disasters. Our Red Cross preparedness experts can work with your group to identify strengths and opportunities to build disaster resiliency. See if one of our group training opportunities is right for you.
Or, host your own Preparedness Party to get the conversation started. Download the Preparedness Party resource kit for free.
