The American Red Cross is celebrating 100 years of serving our community in Silicon Valley. For the past century, since our Chapter was chartered in 1916, we have helped hundreds of thousands of residents affected by local disasters including home fires, floods, earthquakes and seasonal emergencies, such as the Loma Prieta Earthquake, Asiana Airline Flight 214 Crash, and the meningitis outbreak at Santa Clara University. The Silicon Valley Chapter also has sent hundreds of volunteers to assist those in need after many national disasters such as Hurricanes Andrew, Ike, Wilma, Katrina and Sandy, the events of 9/11 and the Boston Marathon bombings. From health and safety classes, to lifesaving blood collection and support of military members, their families and veterans, the Red Cross has helped make our community safer and more prepared for what may come in the next 100 years. Join us during the Red Cross Centennial: Volunteer, Donate, Celebrate.
