Someone dies in a home fire seven times a day, on average nationwide, and in Northeast Ohio, the Red Cross responds on average to three home fires every day. Join us, when, in honor of Flag Day, we partner with several military and veterans groups on a mission to make neighborhoods safer throughout Northeast Ohio.
We will be going door-to-door in Greater Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Mansfield, installing smoke alarms, replacing batteries in existing alarms, and conveying valuable fire safety information on June 17, 2017. We need your help. Get started here to volunteer. Here you will also see a list of specific site locations and times.
Our partners on this Fire Safety Walk include the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, The Mission Continues, and Team Red, White and Blue.
The Red Cross and its partners are committed to reducing the number of deaths from home fires by 25%. Additional Fire Safety Walks are planned. Watch for information on Sound the Alarm, Save A Life, a nationwide initiative to install 100,000 smoke alarms this fall.
