Run for the Red Pocono Marathon, Half Marathon & 5k Set for Sunday, May 21!
12th annual event raises money for American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
Registration is now open for the Run for the Red Pocono Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k Road Race, to be held in Monroe County on Sunday, May 21, 2017. The event, in its 12th year, will raise money for American Red Cross Disaster Relief in the Pocono Mountains.
The marathon and half marathon will start at 7 a.m. at Pocono Mountain West High School in Pocono Summit. The 5k road race steps off at 8 a.m. at Stroudsburg High School.
All three races finish in the Stroudsburg High School stadium. The Pocono Marathon serves as a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon in 2017. A total of $8,000 in prize money is awarded for the top three male and female finishers of the Pocono Marathon this year.
Interested runners can register now for the marathon, half marathon, or 5k.
Pocono Medical Center once again is the presenting sponsor of the 2017 Run for the Red Pocono Marathon. Blue Ridge Communications Channel 13 will broadcast the finish of the marathon from the high school Sunday morning.
As part of race weekend, the annual Runner’s Expo will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 7p.m. in the cafeteria of Stroudsburg High School.
The Run for the Red Pocono Marathon is a fundraiser for the American Red Cross. Across the Pocono Mountains, the Red Cross responded to more than 60 emergencies in the past year, providing assistance to more than 200 people.
