Come join us for the 3rd Annual Disaster 5K Run/Walk on Oct. 19, 2013 at the Hyannis Village Green, come rain or shine!
The registration is open to the public and costs $20; all the proceeds will go to support local disaster relief. This year, in honor of the six month anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing we will be "Boston Strong" and honor the responders who were a part of the team that responded to the attack. A short ceremony will be held at 9 AM where we will recognize, salute and celebrate these heroes, and following the national anthem the color guard will lead everyone to the starting line where our heroes will officially start the race.
Registration takes place from 8-9 a.m. on site, the Boston Strong ceremony will be at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 9:15 a.m. Come dressed up as your favorite superhero and compete to win the best costume prize for a team or individual winning Hanlon's Shoes gift certificates. The first 100 to register will also receive a free T-shirt and medals will be awarded to the first male and female finishers who are the “Master and Mistress of Disaster”- along with a free pair of running shoes from Hanlon's Shoes. Age group prizes from Bayside Runner will be awarded to the first male and female finisher in each age category. So put on your best Superman or Catwoman costume and be a hero to your local Red Cross Chapter by raising money for local disaster response. Special prizes for funds raised by each participant: earn a Red Cross baseball cap, sport bag or fleece by raising $100, $250, $500 or more!
