Home Fire Preparedness

Red Cross Responds to Home Fire
  • Six times per day, someone dies in a home fire in the United States. Injuries due to home fires occur every 90 seconds.
  • A fire department is called to a home fire almost 1,000 times every day.
  • And sadly, the numbers have remained about the same over the course of the last 20 years.
  • To make a change in these devastating numbers, the American Red Cross is launching the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign. This 5 year campaign is intended to reduce the number of deaths and injuries due to fire in the U.S. by 25 percent.

On October 11th, the American Red Cross will hold Home Fire Preparedness Rallies all over the United States. Partnering with local fire departments and other partner organizations, volunteers will go door to door and install fire alarms for those who don’t have them, and share fire prevention information with residents in several Southern Nevada neighborhoods that have seen heightened fire activity in the last year.

You, your organization, or your company employee team can help save lives by participating in this initiative. The campaign will be held on October 11, from 8am-1pm. Volunteers will install fire alarms and take fire information packets to neighborhoods hardest hit by fires.
