Amin Khoja, a psychosocial specialist with the American Red Cross, stops on the road to extend an encouraging hand to two small children in Indonesia. Khoja works with survivors of the tsunami, including children, to enhance individual resilience and restore hope after the tsunami struck. Psychosocial training of volunteers and local Red Cross or Red Crescent staff is one of the core components of effort by the American Red Cross to restore communities in the aftermath of the tsunami.
