Distributions of Red Cross and Red Crescent immediate family supplies began in Sri Lanka on January 8, 2005. Supplies were delivered to Colombo, Sri Lanka and then delivered to Galle. From Galle, the supplies were trucked to the distribution sites. In this situation, the delivery site was Matara in the southern area of Sri Lanka.
