2013 Texas Disaster Leadership Institute sponsored by State Farm

The American Red Cross is pleased to announce the 2013 Texas Disaster Leadership Institute will be held April 24th – April 27th. This event is made possible by a generous donation from State Farm. The grant will be presented on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 8:00am and on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the Texas Disaster Leadership Institute in Spicewood, Texas. The funds will help support disaster preparation throughout Texas.

“We are pleased and honored to continually count on State Farm for their support. This institute helps the American Red Cross provide high level training for our disaster workers. It is essential that we continually prepare, practice and drill in order to effectively respond when disasters do strike. We are grateful to them for helping Texans be better supplied and properly resilient before, during and after a disaster,” said Steve Vetrano, Chief Executive Officer, Texas Gulf Coast Region, American Red Cross.

This statewide, multi-day institute will take place at the Highland Lakes Camp and Conference Center in Spicewood, TX. The institute involves leadership development including intermediate and advanced level training to develop supervisors and managers across the state of Texas. It includes four days of training classes and workshops with special emphasis on leadership during a disaster, disaster team member development, shelter management, successful delivery of disaster services and meeting the on-going needs of disaster-affected communities. Our primary goal is to continue to build on our strengths in Red Cross disaster leadership capacity and community preparedness throughout Texas.
