Albuquerque, NM - The Association of United Ways of New Mexico has worked together to contribute $23,000 to the American Red Cross in New Mexico to assist with disaster response and recovery efforts following September’s widespread flooding in the state.
The donation is on behalf of the Members of the United Ways of New Mexico: San Juan United Way United Way of Carlsbad & South Eddy County; United Way of Central New Mexico; United Way of Chaves County; United Way of Eastern New Mexico; United Way of Lea County; United Way of Northern New Mexico; United Way of Santa Fe County and United Way of Southwest New Mexico.
“We send our deepest sympathy to everyone affected by these devastating floods,” said Linda Mickey, Chair of the Coordinating Committee for the United Ways of New Mexico and Executive Director for the San Juan United Way. “Our thoughts are with the people of New Mexico as they recover and rebuild.”
“United Ways are committed to supporting the relief efforts of the Red Cross. The Red Cross has responded to local flood related needs in many areas of New Mexico by providing immediate assistance with shelter, food and disaster relief,” said Ms. Mickey. “Members of the Association of United Ways in New Mexico worked with their respective local Boards of Directors in order to make this support possible.
