SAN DIEGO, June 4, 2012 – Every day we are surrounded by heroes – whether it’s at work, at play, at home or simply out and about in the community. And San Diego and Imperial Counties certainly has no lack of them! As the community leader in emergency preparedness, prevention and response, the American Red Cross honors individuals and organizations that have made a difference through their acts of courage, compassion and leadership. If someone is a hero in your eyes, the Red Cross encourages you to nominate them for the 10th Annual Real Heroes Breakfast.
Each year the American Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter hosts the Real Heroes Breakfast to honor local individuals and organizations in San Diego and Imperial Counties who have made a commitment to creating safer and stronger communities and providing help when disaster strikes.
“We’re honored to host this unique community celebration each year to recognize our hometown heroes who carry out the mission of the American Red Cross every day,” said Andrea Waldron, Chief Development Officer of the American Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter.
Heroes are nominated by the public and are chosen by an awards selection committee made of local community and business leaders. Heroes are selected based on the degree to which their actions in the community uphold the values of the American Red Cross and leave a lasting and positive impact on the residents of San Diego and Imperial Counties. This year’s Real Heroes winners will be honored at the 10th Anniversary of the Real Heroes Breakfast on September 27, 2012, aboard the USS Midway Museum.
