Calling All Veterans

Bakersfield, CA, August, 30 – The American Red Cross Kern Chapter is proud to partner with The California Veterans Assistance Foundation (CVAF) again this year. CVAF will be hosting the 14th annual Kern County Veterans Stand Down on Thursday, October 11th, 2012. The event will be held at Stramler Park, 3805 Chester Avenue near Sam Lynn Ballpark. Gates open from 8:00am – 3:00pm.

The Stand Down is a safe retreat for all veterans, include homeless veterans, to receive supportive services to renew their spirit, health, and overall sense of wellbeing. The program is successful because it brings these services to one location, making them more accessible to homeless veterans.
