IMPERIAL VALLEY, February 25, 2011 – This March, the Imperial Valley Service Center of the American Red Cross is celebrating Red Cross Month by giving thanks to the hundreds of local residents who personify America’s humanitarian spirit by donating their time, money and blood. The Red Cross Imperial Valley Service Center (IVSC) asks you to join us in providing help and hope to people in need.
“The American Red Cross relies on the generosity of its many supporters who donate time, blood or money towards our relief services for families affected by home fires and other disasters, and to prepare and train families in how to prevent and respond to potential emergencies,” said Sylvia Preciado, Manager of the Imperial Valley Service Center. “We are calling on all community members to join us this month because when you help the Red Cross, you help your neighbors in Imperial Valley.”
Join us Tuesday, March 1st at the Board Chambers in El Centro where the Imperial County Board of Supervisors will present a Resolution recognizing March as Red Cross Month at 10:15 am. In addition, the Red Cross IVSC invites you to attend a community Safety Fair on Saturday, March 19th at Eager Park in the City of Imperial from 11am – 5pm (flyer attached).
“It is an honor and a privilege to recognize the Red Cross during the month of March,” said District 2 Supervisor and Chairman of the Board Jack Terrazas. “The Red Cross IVSC is an important asset to our community. I encourage all Imperial Valley residents to get involved so that the good work we have come to depend on continues both here in Imperial Valley, and around the world. “
IVSC staff, volunteers and faithful donors provide valuable tools and education making Imperial Valley a stronger and more resilient community. Donations to the Red Cross IVSC can be mailed to American Red Cross – IVSC 781 Broadway, El Centro 92243 or made online at www.sdarc.org.
