Eagle Scout Project will Benefit Red Cross

After last summer’s wildfires in Creek County, Red Cross sifter boxes gave families a way to search for small mementos left behind in the haste of emergency evacuation. Rings, coins, heirlooms and other small treasures were revealed as families sifted through the ashes that lay where their homes once stood.

The tragedy in Creek County inspired 15-year-old Michael McBride to help and gave the Life Scout an idea for his Eagle Scout community service project. On Saturday, that project will be completed when McBride and four other scouts from Troop 153 put the finishing touches on sifter boxes that will be donated to the Eastern Oklahoma Red Cross in Tulsa.
