Evacuation Center Opened

SANTA CRUZ, CA (August 7, 2012) The American Red Cross Santa Cruz County Chapter opened an evacuation center Tuesday afternoon at Santa Cruz Bible Church, after residents along La Fonda Road from Highway 1 to Soquel Ave., as well as a nearby preschool and vet hospital were issued an evacuation order.

Soquel Avenue is currently closed from Capitola Avenue Extension to 7th Avenue, as a result of the gas line break on Soquel Avenue, and is expected to be closed until 5 p.m.

Anyone who needs assistance may come to Santa Cruz Bible Church at 440 Frederick St. Assistance for pets is available at Santa Cruz Animal Shelter on 7th Avenue.
