September 6th - The Kern Chapter Disaster Action Team volunteers were very busy very early this morning assisting a single family (2 adults, 2 children, and 1 infant) affected by a major home fire. The fire started late last night only a few days after they had just moved in.

The fire occurred on the 700 Block of Woodrow Ave. in Bakersfield.

The family was assisted with shelter, food, teddy bears, comfort kits, and other necessities, as well as much needed resources and referral guidance.

This call marks the 71st family with a total of 294 individuals (184 Adults, 100 Children, and 10 infants) needing assistance because of home fires already this year.
