Kern Red Cross Responds to Single Family Fire in Bakersfield

January 1st , Bakersfield, CA: Red Cross - Kern Chapter volunteers are currently responding to an early morning single family fire on the 1000 block of Niles Street in Bakersfield.

The Red Cross volunteers are on their way to assist 4 adults and will be there to provide shelter, food, clothing, comfort items and other necessities, as well as much needed resources and referral guidance.

This call marks the 1st response of 2013. Last year, almost 500 local indivuals were served by Kern Chapter Red Cross volunteers due to home fires or other disasters.
