JACKSON, MISS. - The American Red Cross is offering a First Aid, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens course designed for tattoo artists who are at risk for on the job exposure to blood and other bodily fluids in the workplace.
The course is one of the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) bloodborne pathogens standard. Red Cross is offering a savings of 20 percent on the course for tattoo artists in Mississippi.
The course teaches participants how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to avoid exposure and what to do if exposed to infectious material. The course also covers topics on how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies, and injuries and sudden illness until advanced medical personnel arrive.
