Stephanie Barnes Taylor is an author and the chief excellence consultant for The Fruition Group, LLC. Her first book, Leading Your Life to Excellence, was published in 2012. Currently, she is writing her second book with the working title Going the Distance for Excellence: Leadership Lessons Learned from a Marathon. Taylor teaches leadership classes on a variety of topics, all of which help people achieve their personal best. She is president of Fabulous University which equips and empowers women to “find their fabulous.”
Taylor attended Mississippi State University (1990-92) and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Tougaloo College in 1994. She received her law degree from Harvard Law School in 1997, and then practiced more than 16 years in the corporate sector. Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate in Organizational Leadership from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
She has been recognized as an Outstanding Community Leader in the state and a Top 10 Business Leader Under 40 in South Mississippi by the Sun Herald and Journal of South Mississippi Business.
She is a 2013 recipient of the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Ambassadors Award from the Gulfport Branch of the NAACP, and a graduate of the Gulf Coast Business Council’s Masters Program and Leadership Jackson County. In 2011, she was appointed by the Mississippi Commissioner of Insurance to the State’s Health Insurance Exchange advisory board and served as chairman of the Health Providers sub-committee. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Theta Zeta Omega.
She is married to Dr. Jerrod Taylor and they have two sons, Nicolas, age 14, and Marcus, age 12. They reside in Ocean Springs and attend Hope Community Church in Gautier.
